Dig Me

"Dig Me" by King Crimson

It's here I sit and rust amid this ruin and rancor like tire irons
toothy grills and car parts before me...the acid rain floods my
floorboard, burns my pores, and rots my upholstry.. once I was
worshipped, polished magnificently, now I lay in decay by the dirty
angry bay...

I'm ready to leave
I wanna get out of here
I'm ready to ride away
I don't want to die in here
I'm ready to ride

mmy skin is metallic now, no longer an elegant powder blue... my body
unhinged and sleeping in the jungle of motor block manifolds and metal
relics... what was deluxe becomes debris, I never questioned loyalty,
but this dead end demolishes the dream of an open highway...

dig me...but don't...bury me

This is a challenging theme. A few entrants need to step away from the HDR sliders.

#9 had the best composition and potential, but it is over-exposed. I can't vote for a poorly exposed photograph any more than I could vote for an out-of-focus photograph - regardless of how great it could have been. I have to vote for what is submitted, the way it is submitted.

My favorite is #2. Love the light and it is interesting. My eye just wants to explore the scene. Well done.
I agree with your take on #9. I like #2 and #11, since they most exactly fit the theme. #9 may or may not be junk...depending on your perspective.

The only real Junk

When I saw the subject matter for the month...I had the same idea as # 7I did not enter.. This one shows Junk in the trunk.
What all men admire in women.

I nominate # 7

junk

Well, I went with a very narrow usage of "junk" in choosing #10. Some pitchers have power, some have sweeping curves, and some . . . well, some are junk-ball pitchers. (It's the photo from this batch that I'd most want to have on my wall. A baseball is a sacred object--in our household, anyway.)

It's hard for me to look at a Karmen Ghia and or a Triumph Spitfire or whatever and think, "Junk." That Caddy's different kettle of fish, though: what was somebody thinking in modifying that thing in that particular way?

Number 9. The composition's okay, but to my eye the focus should have been on the gears in the foreground. It's overexposed and too flat--more contrast or "clarity" would have helped.

Number 9 makes me think of Ted Williams. Which brings me back to #10, I reckon. . . .

#11.
I like 11 the best.

Some other good ones, but many using HDR far too much. Looks awful, surprised they even got nominated.

I'm on my phone right now and 10 isn't loading, so I can't comment on it. But of all the others . . . I agree with others here who find lots of decay but not much junk. In fact, even among items that might seem to be obvious junk, I see materials that can be reclaimed or recycled. The most obvious candidates, the cars, in every case, have some reclamation value - even the old Cadillac. If you look closely, despite all the rust, it's chrome bits are in very good condition, so the Cadillac isn't junk just for that reason. The old car with the headlight working is a car restorer's dream, so definitely not junk. The Triumph spitfire and the Karmann Ghia also appear restorable, so not junk. The field of gears is probably worth a pretty penny at a metal recycler. I don't get the beach scene. And most of the others are either decay, trash, or destruction. All it would have taken was one image of a totaled or compacted car and I would have called that junk. But no joy . . . And no vote.

From my perspective, images are very americans. I do not know if it's good?
Too much post-production. They are cool, but no one, is very cool
Maybe #2
What was the task?

Junk favorites............

I like #2 but would prefer less HDR and perhaps B&W. #14 is also a close preference. The judges will have a tough time.

#9 reflects the meaning .

It seems that black and white would do better.
