Wow -- gorgeous and wonderfully playful on many levels! Extremely witty to juxtapose ancient style busts and architectural references often used for drawn and painted still-lifes with the more contemporary mannequin and rooster. Although a "still" arrangement of objects, the photograph has a tremendous feeling of movement because of the angles and the precarious stacking of objects. The play of light and shadows becomes another element. I also like the way the convex flower petals on the dress are echoed by the concave petals in the moulding which creates a nice rhythm (that might not be as noticeable if the image were in color). In addition to combining objects of inconsistent sizes (scales), the black and white with cool tone adds to the surreal and spooky feeling -- and only the mannequin has "pupils" in her eyes -- is she looking out at us? Both exterior and interior, the title, "Artist's Attic," feels like it could refer to actual props or to images that collect and become arranged in the photographer's mind as he takes in the world. So much more to think about. Brilliant -- nominated!

I just appreciate great shapes and textures interpreted in ways that elevate photography to art. This one accomplishes that and it's creator has an excellent gift/ability, to pre-visualize the scene, and ,then, shoot it at an interesting angle. Nice crop, too. I agree that low contrast does give it that eerie aura. I like fiber basedprints, and this one would look great printed on satin finish. I'm impressed, with quite a few, of the other still life images, but this grabbed my eye. Loydp

My favourite. I like the angle, the subject, the lighting and B+W works very well.

As usual it is very difficult to rate, but I will say that the composition and the lights immediately reminded me the technique and the perspective of a great Italian photographer, ''Roberto Bigano'', here the link to some of her images.

So I voted your interpretation.
