Exquisite! Impressionism in photography -- like a charcoal and pastel drawing on water which creates a feeling of flat, 2-dimensional surface against the movement and depth of the river -- as if the charcoal is rising and pulling up from the water like trees rooted in the soil beneath. Although it is liquid, there is also a texture of rippled glass and icicle. We look down to see sky. We only have reference to the reflection itself -- what is not really there becomes tangible. Meditative and extremely emotional -- the sweet melancholy of winter. Such a powerful composition, "Drawn on Water" is like a haiku in its purity, simplicity, and complexity of sensations of land, water, and sky through the movement and subtle colors -- silent, yet bursting with nature's sounds -- elegant and earthy, and full of wit -- perfect for this heat wave! My mind and body want to dive in to reflect further on this reflection...NOMINATED!
