It's a powerful photo indeed, but it does make me feel a little uncomfortable.

Perhaps that's the point, but (and no offense intended here!) these kind of shots strike me as a little voyeuristic. Like here's someone consumed with grief over the loss of a loved one, but a stranger (I'm assuming, no idea) has captured her moment and we're all looking at it on a photo-sharing site saying 'great photo!' etc. There just seems something a little inhumane about the whole thing; sometimes I wish that these personal moments could be left to those who are living them.

very sad - should not have been taken as some things are private or should be - time to wake up

Portrait of Grief

Good God. Lots of really good portraits in this series, but this one caught me in the gut immediately. There is an entire story here.

A picture is worth a thousand words, isn't it. As long as the lady was unaware that her picture was being taken, I don't think her privacy was violated. If I was the photographer and she saw me there, I wouldn't have taken the shot.

Sorry, but REALLY?! You're saying our right to privacy only extends as far as our knowledge of it having been violated? That's unbelievably daft.

Someone takes a photo of you in your bedroom through your window it is a violation of your privacy whether you were aware of it or not.

Legally it was not violated as it was a public place but morally it could be seen that way.
