Yes, those are the actual colors. Adirondack waters are stained by tannins and make for "beer" colors in some kinds of lighting and under some conditions.

Thanks to all of you who nominated and commented on my picture. My aim was to show laminar flow being broken into turbulent float by the structures of a dam. Also, behind the curtain of water below the dam's lip, water has been captured behind that curtain. As a canoeist/kayaker, this is an important hydrologic feature to understand, so I was interested in capturing that phenomenon.
