Lower Yellowstone Falls
Contest Number: 128 Contest Theme: Flowing Water Lens: DA 60-250 Camera: K10D Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F10
Posted By: pschlute, 04-26-2017, 01:02 PM

I dug into the archves for this months competition, sorry. This was captured in Yellowstone Park in strong overhead light. I resisted the temptation to bring out the dark areas in PP, as I believe the lighting as it is shows off the detail in the water, emphasizing the power of the Falls.

I love the light-play between the dark and light areas, the scene looks very dramatic - I am glad you did not change anything in PP. Good choice of shutter speed to help capture the sense of drama in the scene: a long exposure and silky smooth water would have lessened this feeling. The shape of the water and spray mist almost look like an arrow pointing down.
