Outstanding Photos, hard to choose.
I have judged many exhibitions and I used the criteria that works for me when all of the images are good. "Which image is unlike what I have seen before" .
I chose # 11.

I'm torn. Number 4 is great but number 5 has it for inventiveness.

① Fog and harsh light does not ruin the day for the photographer. Great shot, great framing with the willow, which also adds depth. The man “gives life” to this old bridge, but also scale.

② Lovely use of colors and contrast to draw the eye to the gazebo and under the arch. Lovely use of a fish-eye, lovely use of slow shutter to simultaneously project calm (in the sky and reflections) and movement (in the leaves in the water).

③ Fantastic mixed lighting photography. Lovely color contrasts. Leading lines, repetitive patterns, curves, golden sections, negative space…. Everything just perfect.

④ Lovely leading lines, balance. Love the focus being just out on the rails, pulling you forward, but just out at the end, leaving you wanting for more. Just the right amount, too. Polarizing filter? I can see the bottom of the river. Great shot.

⑤ You were thinking out of the box. I like it! Well framed and composed, high key, with details on the bridge. S-curves, golden ratio, balance with reflection,… nicely done.

⑥ Nice balance of light with the sky and the land. There is contrast in the clouds but the bridge is not a dark silhouette. It looks like you were going for the golden sections (good job) but I might have tried raising or dropping my horizon. This does actually work. Well balanced.

⑦ Repeating patterns, textures, curves, diagonals, golden sections, nicely done.

⑧ Lovely play of colors, lovely contrasting textures in the sky and land. Lovely leading lines of the bridge going home, lovely foreground lighting, giving just enough light on the padi. Pulls me in.

⑨ Lovely S-curve. Got that hyper-focal distance. I see what you were doing with the foreground framing, but that ominous mountain in the back seems cut-off. Maybe lift the camera to have less of a bottom frame and more drama from the mountain and clouds. Nevertheless, makes me want to get out my bicycle and power up that hill!

⑩ Love the bridge fading in the (late) morning fog, the sun peaking out just enough to cast a few rays and shadows into the mist. The diagonal drawing you from the bench, across the bridge to home atop the hill, still shrouded in the thickness. No details, but a story well told.

⑪ Love the new angle to this bridge. It makes it look like a walkway to the heavens. Lovely curves, parallel lines, repeating patterns, sky texture, …over-sharpened?!? Nevertheless, excellent.

⑫ good use of slow shutter to add movement to the water and a water-color feel to the trees. The bridge stands out tack sharp against it, exposure on point, detail and texture clear. Well framed and composed.

⑬ I get the chasing stars, but the photographer and camera/tripod are a distraction. Nevertheless, well lit bridge, fantastic sky, star trails negligible, city lights not distracting. In fact, I like the city lights right there. Good job.

⑭ Lovely long exposure to get that silky water. The three people atop the bridge stood still enough to lend character and scale. Details in the stones of the old city and riverbank on the right, excellently juxtaposed to the new (newer) building with its own character. The houses in the distance, under the bridge, holding up the grandeur of this place. (Where is this place?) Nicely done.

⑮ Lovely rhythm to this image. The leading lines of the bridge draw me to center, bottom, but then the lines of the tower, and the diagonals of the supports, draws my eyes up to its pinnacle. I can hardly take my eyes off the top of the tower, but when I do, the shadow detail under the bridge is wonderful, as my eyes dance from side to side due to its streaks, then back to the top of the tower. Marvelous!

And the winner is…

…I have cast my vote. Took a great deal of deliberation with myself, as it was quite a fantastic field.

tough choice

A very difficult choice between many great shots!

But I have to go with #10... the mood just spoke to me! The composition, everything...A couple others were really, really close... But #10 is the one for me!

Thank you.

Catch you on the next contest!

Best regards...
