This shot was taken on the road through the Cordillera de la Sal, a couple of miles from San Pedro de Atacama, in the Atacama desert, northen Chile.
You can see the vertical folded crusts of earth on both sides of the road. That's the result of the collision of tectonic plates millions of years ago that created the terrain that today resides in the high altitudes of the Atacama and the Andes mountains.
