Grandma's last portrait

Here is my grandma Alzira with 91 years old back in 2013.
This is one of the last photos I took of her during the weekend for Mother's Day celebration, a few days before she was hospitalized. She never recovered and sadly passed away one year later, but I was lucky to be able to be there that weekend and meet her one last time while she was still in good shape. She was born and raised in the farm, raised 7 children, did not have an easy life, but made a wonderful family.
I liked the BW version better than the original color one. I think I did a little crop from the original (I need to look for it in my backups).

I love this. Both your photo and her story remind me of my grandmother. I am glad that you have this photo as a memorial, and I'm sorry for your loss.

Beautiful woman! Her eyes are riveting, the exposure perfect, details striking: great composition with wonderful bokeh. The more I look, the more I see. If I had her picture on my wall, I would end up talking to her.

Thanks Chris for telling me her story. You can tell that she is a special person. Glad you got this portrait. It sure is a keeper.

very nice portrait - the out of focus background shapes (combined with the vignette) work very well in B&W to frame the face in a way that seems n keeping with the lady's character.
