Lilac breasted roller

I was lucky to catch this lilac breasted roller posing so beautifully against an homogeneous, overcast sky, giving this amazing flash of colour a uniform background. Lucky, also, in terms of focus in that I had the lens on full 500mm zoom without a tripod. A second later this bird flipped off its perch and snatched up a tiny frog (which I had not even noticed) next to the road. The location was nearby Pretoriuskop camp in the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
