Water Jousting boat

I took this photo on holiday in the Languedoc region of France in 2014, in the harbour in a town called Mèze.

The boat is a specialised one used in the coastal towns for water jousting tournaments which are held of feast days and public holidays. The jouster stands on the raised platform at the rear of the boat, which is rowed as fast as possible to meet an opposing vessel.

Jeune Lance Sportive Mèzoise is the name of the water jousting club.
