Some really nice pictures, was a touch choice. On #13, what lens produced such wonderful star busts?

Yikes, they are all so good. About half of them are Bests. I chose #6 since it is the only one with the great element of an "S" curve. But several others jump out at me as well.

I very much agree with the comments of several other folks, in that most ALL of the Photos were excellent. It was most difficult to select my view of the best of the group, however I really appreciated #11's use of artificial light (auto lights, etc.) and natural light. Thank you, to all, for sharing.

These are all very good, but my eye kept going back to #1,

All of the photos were excellent. I narrowed my vote down to #3 and #14. I loved the simplicity of the black and white photo of the lights and the path, #14. However, in the end I went for the color of #3 and the distorted reflection in the river.

These are all outstanding. I voted #1, I like the lights on the station house, which appears to be a home, and the lights in the background give the impression of a train coming.


I would like to learn some background such as where this was taken and if the tracks are still in use.

Thank you so kindly for the comments I first visited this station back in the Fall of 2018 and had taken several photographs . After Posting them on my Face Book Page I received a message asking permission to post on the Orangedale Museum Face book page , This Building being one of the remaining Train Stations Of several Located on Cape Breton Island Nova Scotia Canada Build in 1886 , was scheduled to be demolished like the remaining Stations Build around the same period , This Station Being the Hub of Cape Breton of its time the small country community of Orangedale rallied to save it and turned it into a Museum , while visiting the area this past year I noticed the Building was in need of repairs which is run by a none profit organisation of volunteers operating seasonal . I wanted to try an do something to help , so I made contact to return for a Christmas Theme shoot , I was told that for many years the station would be decorated for the Holidays , but the past recent loss of interest and Volunteers , so I wanted to try and re-create this, and with some convincing gained access to the building , bringing Christmas lights from my own home to set up in the windows of the station with the help of my contact . I used two Speedlights with remote triggers set up around the bend of the tracks to create the effect of an oncoming train . The Rail Line is owned and operated by a US Company Wyoming Rail , but the line has been sitting Dormant for the past 5 or 6 years with no Trains active on the Line . Part of the reason it has not been torn up , do to Gov Subsidies to keep it intact with hopes of future business . After I released this photo the response was huge, more so then I Anticipated selling many print copy's and donating a percentage of each print sold back to the Museum , I was even able to meet one of the Station Masters from the time now 92yrs of age , many Story's told and his father before him was Station Master , I'm looking forward to return in the Spring for more conversation . the last passenger Train to run on this line was back in 1990 , I always enjoyed taking this train too and from College back in the 80's , there has even been a song written and sung by Jimmy Rankin ( The Rankin Family ) Orangedale Whistle , search for it on YouTube its a favorite here in the Maritimes .

You really set the table for this photo. It looked as if the tracks closest to the station could have been used in the past year, but infrequently. And your personal experience riding these rails personalizes it.
