At a recent family reunion to celebrate my mom's ninetieth birthday, thirty two people from several states gathered. I sneaked away from the hubbub to get this shot with my PENTAX K 1. As I considered my choices for submission, i kept coming back to this image. Others had more contrast and vibrant tonal values, but a vertical Landscape from inside a quite bedroom kept pulling me in. On this winter day in Lake Lure/ Chimney Rock, NC, I looked over at the rushing Rocky Broad River from my bedroom at The River House and took in the engaging view. I shot this hand braced against the door frame. The challenges of exposure I overcame by bracketing and then subtle post editing. I am ever impressed with my PENTAX K 1, and the Sigma 17-35 mm aspherical lens proved an excellent lens choice. Enlarged to 100% the window screen is clearly seen.
