No. 11
It was very difficult for me to choose between 1, the bi-plane and the motorcycle but the motorcycle won out.

12 is Powerful and well done.

# 12 is my winner. I also like #9,15 &13, but # 6, the nose on the right is not sharp like the left nose, and this ruins the otherwise spectacular image for me...though a solid take (if I should do so well!). All the shots have merit. My very top pick "Smokin Angel" did not make the finals, though 4 in total did including #12. ..love...

Seeing the one sharp aircraft tells me that the photographer was carefully following it. Maybe this photo of the sharp vs. motion-blurred aircraft would be more dramatic if there was slightly less overlap of the two aircraft. But it was impressive timing to catch them perfectly overlapping!

I love every single one of these images, for a variety of different reasons. Though it was difficult to choose favourites, I narrowed mine down to #1, #11 and #12. By the narrowest of margins, I voted for #12, as I really liked the momentary confusion until my brain realised what was happening. And it looks great inverted in this way.

Nice work, everyone

if I can be so bold , image 4, 6 and image 8 are machines showing motion which is the theme. the other images while absolutely stunning they are machines frozen in a landscape that shows motion

I wonder about how the prop wash was created.
This is one I almost went for. I have seen prop wash like that with the naked eye watching aircraft taking off in high humidity.

Actually the title is "Machines in Motion".

Not machines showing motion.

Everyone has different tastes. Personally, I love photos of any kind of vehicle (whether in motion or otherwise) - and especially when they're as good as these. I think there are lots of other folks that do too...

Exactly - I would not call the phenomenon 'common', but it can be seen and photographed when conditions are right.
