Caught in by photographer and the fisher net

The shutter speed is 1/400 sec, at iso 400. But I wonder why the shutter speed can not be chosen under shutter speed?!

Anyways... it does not change anything

Cheers

Looking at the EXIF data, you've used aperture priority (Av) mode, where you select the ISO and aperture, and the camera sets a suitable shutter speed to get the correct exposure. You could have manually selected an ISO of 200 and, at the same aperture, the shutter speed would have dropped to around 1/200s. Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your comment. I can see what you mean

As far as I can remember from this shoot (a year ago), I chose the the AV mode, cause it was getting dark and I was a kind of lazy to think. There were 3 or 4 other photographers around and everyone said something to the model. I managed to instruct her to pose like in the picture and just wanted to take the shot as quick as I possible.

But I think if I had chosen an ISO of 200 then the photo would be somehow darker... specially when my brain is set to "auto" Isn't it?

Kind regards

No At ISO 400 and aperture of f/3.2 (both of which you had set manually), the camera's Av mode used metering information to set a shutter speed of 1/400s for correct exposure. If you were to adjust ISO to 200 (one stop difference), then Av mode would have calculated a shutter speed of 1/200s instead (also one stop difference) to produce the same exposure.

Remember, Av is a semi-automatic mode that uses metering to calculate appropriate shutter speed based on your chosen ISO and aperture settings.

Feel free to PM me if you need more info
