Wow -- extremely visceral and powerful!* Brilliant portrait -- captures not only the likeness but also the essence of the person and a moment that would be too fast to experience in real time.* The lighting and toning adds a Rembrandt-like luminosity, creating a spiritual transformation, yet still human with the detailed textures of skin, tendons, wrinkles and facial lines.* The bronze toning also offers a reference to sculptural "portraits."* Although a still image, I can feel both primal and operatic sound exploding from inside.* The rhythmic shapes and composition also adds to the drama and excitement -- the strings of the violin on a diagonal pushing out of the rectangle, the "f" hole echoing the shape of the ear, the vibration created by the lines of the face and strands of jewelry.* Perfect title and overwhelming on many levels.* *NOMINATED!
