This image was shot in Oaxaca, Mexico, at the start of the day's activities. Because of the generally narrow and often crowded streets in various cities the 17mm semi-fisheye lens proved ideal for both candid and inclusive photography with its extreme depth of field and close focusing that allowed me to work almost invisibly, as well as establishing a relationship of scale between foreground and background elements to establish a sense of priority. Considerable prior experience allowed me to shoot without having to fiddle with camera settings to get truly candid images even though my appearance would give away that I was a tourist.
