The morning of my life!

Hello all,

I regularly visit San Francisco, and have been longing for one of those magical mornings when the Bay fills with fog, but it sits low enough for the Golden Gate Bridge and the city to stand majestically above it. Since I don't get much choice over when I visit, it's always been a matter of hoping for the right moment. But, despite being business trips, I always take with me an extensive kit of Pentax 645Z, numerous lenses and a big tripod. Important to be prepared if the conditions play ball! I didn't really expect to get perfect conditions, but you have to try...

On this particular day, I got up at 4am, drove to the relevant spot in the Marin Headlands through thick fog, and hoped for the best. I could not have imagined just how incredible the conditions would be. It was almost beyond comprehension, even standing there - as though it couldn't quite be real.

The sky has been edited in from another frame, also taken by me - to accentuate the effect.
