In my studio work I often try to take the most basic subjects and turn them into works of art. In this case, I filled one of my wife's mixing bowls with water and then dropped in a couple of tissues and let them float around. Once they floated into a pleasing position, I shot multiple angles with different light sources and colors. Once all the base images were made, I spent several hours in Photoshop blending and warping and color grading and pulling out all of the post-processing stops. The final composite consists of well over 50 layers. When I posted it online, I mentioned that I saw an owl staring out from the very center of the image, but people saw all sorts of weird things in it. I like images like this because they are abstract enough that your imagination can run willd and you can get lost in them.
