Theme: Contest #27, November, 2008
Posted By: Adam, 11-03-2008, 07:36 AM

The theme for the PentaxForums.com November Photo Contest is:

Song Title Literalisms

Take an image that represents a song title as in 'Brown Sugar', get it? Please be creative and take time to plan your shot. The more creative entries will do better in this contest. Working backwards may work for this contest; another example would be 'November Rain' by Guns and Roses for this one, as long as it rains.

As usual, please do not post your submissions in this thread! Make a new thread in the submission sub-forum instead; limit one photo per user. Good luck to all participants! If this is your first contest, you may be interested in reading the articles below:

I agree, working backward might be a big help on this one. If I may make a suggestion that might help out. allmusic has a massive music database which is very sear friendly. The advance search tool allows you to enter any keyword and it will suggest song titles. For example, I searched November Rain and I got back 26 occurences. You can get detail on every one. Ok, so this is the hard part. Now all I have to do is take a decent photo. lol

How about "Hotter Than Hell" by Kiss. Have a camp fire going with another brand of camera in it burning.

Uhmmm... I don't know if I'm just too tired after staying awake last night watching the elections, or if I'm just dumb and didn't get the idea properly...

So we're supposed to be
1) literal or
2) use the intertextuality of the song title?

Which, like in case of "Brown sugar", would give us for example options of
1) boring bokeh-shot of some brown sugar or
2) portrait a la D'Angelo's Brown Sugar video.

Either way, there's millions of songs out there. So are we supposed to put the Artist/song title in also? If not, it's a game of guessing and thus we're limited into the rather mainstream music and songs/songtitles everyone knows and "understanding" the photo.

I will add artist/title to eliminate guessing.
