Fivesixnine, Every nomination feels good...almost as good has holding a fine camera, my eye up to the viewfinder, the wonder of abiding in a world all my own, but a world to share with others and in years to come, I'll never feel alone. Thank you.

Thank you, lesmore49. For a member of your standing, I am most honored by your nomination. Indeed, it makes me feel as if I won. Having viewed all the submissions, many are (IMO) average at best. I'm no pro, but I started shooting in 1971 with a RICOH TLS 401 35mm and have shot RICOH products almost exclusively ever since along with much study. I did use an inexpensive and used ebay NIKON D3200 while saving up for my K1. Now, I will rant a bit: I believe this submission is as good as any in the running. I believe I nailed the exposure from foreground to horizon and every cloud...and no over-saturation in post edit either. It is a rare sky from a rare vantage point on the USA East Coast--it even has a story due to the lone person walking the golden strand. It evokes a good mood. The rule of thirds is perfectly applied as well. As a member for over two years, I am still trying to figure out the thinking of many who nominate what I consider average, everyday images (especially many of these sunsets, which anyone could have taken). It is not my intention to belittle any submitter. Indeed, there are a number of outstanding/winning images. I have taken many poor/average shots myself--many more than my exceptional ones for sure. Nonetheless, am I wrong in thinking my image is quite overlooked? If so, why? I would love your answers, but I'm okay if none should come. Best regards...Whatever the image, may the best take first! ... PS, In description I mention, "one of my first sunsets", when I meant to say one of my first PENTAX K1 sunsets...oh well...
