Milky Way over the old cross
Posted By: amrocha, 01-31-2021, 07:16 PM

I have been wanting this shot since I started photographing the Milky Way years ago, but only in 2020 I was able to get it. This old cross sits on a hill at my late grandfather's farm, and only last September, during this pandemic, I was able to get there with the MW in the right position, and also with a good weather condition and clean access (the tall grass and my fear of snakes were my limitations in other opportunities). I am not sure how old is this cross, but we believe it must be more than 100 years old.

EXIF: 17mm f2.8 25" ISO3200, single exposure

Interesting use of unusual combination of colours.
Thank you! It's always a challenge to deal with the colors, and this was actually close to what came out of the camera

Wow, great composition, technique and story. Inspiring. I'll be in the mountains next weekend, may get a chance to to night sky for the first time. I won't come away with anything like this, but it sure shows the amazing possibilities.
