Well, I've probably doomed my favorite here, just as I did others in the nomination round. I seem to have that power. . . .

Still wondering how the choice was made to pick the photo for the fifteenth slot from three that were tied with votes. Maybe someone in the know can explain that process. Anyone?

grey coat have power to stop train , reveal your favourite choice now before the results are in. seems to work in a lot of democracies

There are no second places among these shots - they are all winners to some degree.in my opinion. Great subjects, framing, colors, light, detail.

My attention is drawn to photographs of animate, mobile things.
I found pelicans to be mean spirited and ornery creatures when I first encountered them. Not even my favorite bird, never mind animal, but I like entry #7 if I have to choose one.

Seriously, I never know how to take the votes being vocalized in these threads. I'm thinking there are a lot of voters who keep things under their hats. (Technically, I think we're supposed to do just that.)

But if the votes made public so far are an indication . . . oh, I should never vote for my favorite.

Maybe the under-the-hat voters will have something other to say than what's been said.

But, hey, I'm just an old grey goat. . . . :-)

If you're on the page with all the photos--not the final fifteen, but the page with photos to nominate--and you hover over an entry, you can see if you already nominated it (those images will be at the top upon reload) and how many total forum members have viewed it, how many have nominated it, and which camera and lens the image was made with. (Personally, it seems to me that it'd be more fair to include 17 images rather than 15.)

Anyway, I hope this explanation helps.

I think it is rather unfair to show some of the images at 4x the display size of others. Makes them seem more impressive (or maybe they just ARE).
