Originally posted by PhilipC Just out of interest, how can you get to see the number of nominations each entry received?
If you're on the page with
all the photos--not the final fifteen, but the page with photos to nominate--and you hover over an entry, you can see if you already nominated it (those images will be at the top upon reload) and how many total forum members have viewed it, how many have nominated it, and which camera and lens the image was made with. (If you open the thread, you can see who nominated that photo, too, and maybe some comments from the photographer about the photo.)
This month, there are three photos with 30 nominations. Just below them are a few photos in the upper 20s--they just missed the cut. But two of the photos with 30 nominations missed the cut, too, while one went on to become one of the fifteen finalists.
That three photos had 30 nominations but only one of those made the cut is what I find curious. Apparently there can't be 17 images in the final batch; 15 is the limit. I think there must be a mechanism to determine which photo becomes the fifteenth and final image in the next stage, but I don't know what it is. (Personally, it seems to me that it'd be more fair to include 17 images rather than 15.)
Anyway, I hope this explanation helps.
