There is nothing new about post processing...

Back in the film days photographers would scratch their negatives and use different chemicals to achieve different affects.
So I am not adverse to post processing but the HDR look can be a bit of an assault on the eyes. Personally I prefer a softer, suggestive image.

I voted for #6 as the composition, and subject contrasts were pleasing.

I did like the chap on a bike in the black and white picture but not enough...

I selected #5 because i like the multilayered geometry of the composition and the restrained colors - the photographer did not succumb to an urge to oversaturate and manipulate the colors in post.

They're all pretty awesome but I'm going with #13. I live in a city and that's what it looks like from the inside.

Sorry folks, but I am of the 'old school' where the photograph was made in the camera, on the spot, with no post editing other than some additional cropping. This was before digital cameras, and I exclusively shot Kodachrome 35mm (usually 125) and did all the settings for lighting and depth manually. That was it. Slide film was too expensive to shoot a dozen or two of one scene hoping to get it right. Having no experience with the likes of Photoshop, I cannot tell which ones might have been post-processed. I like a lot of them, but #7 stands out, because it is the result of on the spot shooting multiple pictures on the same piece of film/slide; it is not post production layering of different images to get one.

For me it was a close thing between #8 and #13, both are excellent.

Today I chose #8,

on another day it might have been #13

#8 for me. Looks more natural with small amounts of post processing. Not against post processing just sometimes too much makes it seem unreal of a photo. A photographer is the user of a camera not a computer.
Just my opinion.

I'm sorry. I'm old school. I don't believe in post processing of images beyond basic cropping. There's to much editing now. I can't vote for any. Not sorry.
To be fair, I took the picture of Banff Alberta...number 9, I believe. This was just a long exposure shot and no post editing. I had a good evening.

To some extent, this subject invites exuberant post-processing and we've got some stunning examples. I can live with it.

Looking at the "Cityscape by Night photo contest" in my browser, there's a note under the poll that says "you may not vote on this poll".

But if I could vote, I'd vote for #13. Viewed from up close it's not as eye-catching as some of the other images. But put on a largish monitor screen by itself and viewed from several feet away, it's really nice, has a moody, noirish aspect, captures a sense of action and danger (dark, fog, bicycle caught in car headlights).

I also like #10 - the very clean tonal separation is nice, convincingly captures "at night".

Edit: Oh, first step of voting is to post a comment, then vote, which I just did.
