Number nine truthfully represents the winter I 've been having, while symbolically capturing the general mood created by Covid-19. Had there been no Covid-19, nine would have caused some indecisiveness, but the beautiful colours, the message about "Peace" in the wake of the 2008 economic meltdown, and my craving for a time before the pandemic tipped my vote in favour of number ten. My apologies to number thirteen. As a photograph, it is my favourite. The positioning of the subject, the contrast between light and dark, the clarity of the train and trestle, and the sunburst effect used to heighten the perspective harmonize to create a brilliant composition. Number ten, however, gave me hope. And if Christmas and New Year's are not about hope, then what is the point of celebrating the season?

Congratulations to all Finalists.

I found it as difficult to choose but "One" image in this contest, as I have experienced in previous contests.

I chose #9 for many reasons, but mainly because I felt it expressed what so many people living in many places in the Northern Hemisphere experience at this time of year.

I hope this image may be seen by many others for it's technical and aesthetic visual qualities that truly reflect the contest topic, and meet with success.

Many fine pics - but #3 was an easy choice for topical content and presentation.
As a Southern Hemisphere based person I also see some beautiful winter scenery ....... but seasonal only in that sense
