Many interesting shots in this contest. I regret that I did not participate! Best of luck to all contenders.

Seriously, this contest has some of the most technically excellent and clever interpretations of the theme I've seen. I've actually never said this before now, but : congratulations to everyone who took part. This is a great batch

Temporarily, but I'm sure you'll be drawn to a Pentax soon enough

Excellent once again - I submit what I think is a contender - then I review the entries and just say wow - maybe next month I will have a chance (but next month's is macro I am beaten before that one starts!). Some really good interpretations all - it's fun just to join in. It's not about winning it's about getting more than your own vote

If this is because you do not have a macro lens, you are wrong. Take your lens off of the mount and reverse it. Hold it firmly against the body so as not to let light leak around the edge.

Cons: no auto focus, aperture adjustment means low light for focusing, difficult manoeuvring with one hand holding lens in place.

Pros: it gets the shot that you would otherwise miss.

haha I have a macro lens - but as I look outside today the light flakes of snow are discouraging the bugs from well living ! I will enter something I was more or less refering to the excellent bug and flower macro's I have seen in the forum over the years - some contests I feel I can compete , Macro's not so much yet - but I will try.

Some bugs do not die in the winter. They find some place to keep themselves from freezing to death while they hibernate. Leave no stone unturned and no storage shed unexplored. Move boxes in sheds, under thick leaves of autumn foliage, rotting tree trunks, etc. Better yet, ask a professor in the etymology department of your local university where you can look for hibernating insects.

The beautiful thing about it is that you will find them in bundles where they are dormant and not going anywhere. You can take your time getting the shot. The bad news is that they are probably not well lit by the sun and that by disturbing their nests, you probably sealed their doom in the next cold spell before spring. They are insects. No one will weep for them.
