Well I'm happy you cleared this up for me. I'm new to much in this Pentax forum and happy there is apparently no fudging going on here.

Thanks
Tom

I'm pretty disappointed, so few interesting shots, I've seen so much better on this forum.

IMO there's nothing EASIER than "street shooting" : everything goes, it rarely demonstrates photographic skill or vision. It'll be interesting to see the results of #34.

If you talk to the subject and make a photograph with the subject's participation, you may be an actual photographer. If instead you "capture a face" it suggests you're just a predator with a camera, keeping score.

As to Gus's "white letters" : they're easily remedied with black photo tape...same as Nikon or Canon, or even our red-dotted-German friends.

Sorry I missed the rule about not referring to individual photos in these contests...I've edited an earlier comment as well.

Cosmo, try disagreeing intelligently.

In my world photographers openly discuss their experiences and their MANY differing opinions .

I agree with “jgredline” we should be thanking the participants and not critiquing them.
If you don’t like the entries then don’t vote for them, this is supposed to be a “fun” contest and not an “art review”!

As for doctoring photos, aren’t all digital images doctored in some way? I only shoot film and don’t have a scanner, so anytime I want to digitalize a slide or negative I have to go to a Photo Lab and pay. So yes my entry was take with a Pentax film camera and is not doctored, if anything scanning a slide or negative reduces the original image, as the technology is still lacking.

I think I’ll stick to the ““cool:Lets see those “film” shots”” in the future, when I do get around to having an image scanned, as it seems to be more of a friendly thread.

just an observation here but it seems that its strange that the people complaining about the lack of intrest in the images here have contributed 0 entries to the contest. I rarely contribute pics for the very reason these people are arguing I can only shot "snapshots" which is the basic complaint about this months contest entries. To the people that want to complain get out and shot and post show us what a Pentax can do in the hands of a "more competent user" not us lowly snapshot shooters.

Hmmm, I would like to see some of your street photos. Do you have a portfolio? A website someplace? A flicker or some other hosting site? You are obviously a very gifted photographer to make such an arrogant statement. Please lets see what you have. Oh, Sorry about the size, I just want to make sure you see this and I know you want to show off your work. Lets see it.

Call me picky, but I'm having a tough time finding my 3. Even the two I have checked aren't super. I think there are a lot of boring pics this round, and not nearly as many standouts as other subjects and rounds that I've seen.

Call me picky but I noticed there wasn't an entry from you. Is it because you're too good or not even as good? Please honour us with some of your work, something for us to aspire to.

BTW, this post is made by me as a member who cares about this forum and the people on it (most of them anyway), not as a moderator.

I'm actually one of those that's ashamed for submitting my shot! What's even sadder is that I had better shots to submit but chose to pick one of my lesser works

I think this is excellent time to reference our Turkish friend's post "Danger of competitions".

All competitions, amateur and professional-juried, I think attract both fine and crap submissions. As does this one.

Two images were easy for me to pick, nicely representing the subject "Street" and beautifully capturing photographic holy trinity of subject, light, and in this instance, the human element. For me, a third pick was tough

So, a typical competition: good, bad, had to think.

I would have entered a photo, but I didn't know there was a street contest going on, this is my first time entering the contest forum.

And apologies for saying who I voted for, I was unaware of the rules.
