A good subject here but has to compete with the less interesting flower bud beside it.
The colour and contrast in the scene is quite dull and the shot deserved a more comprehensive PP job to bring out the subject's glory.
Good isolation of the subject, but does require some punch.

Its a good starting point maybe crop to to a single yellow rose portrait size and close out the spiders web and the bit of yellow under the petal with more contrast...TFS

cheers

Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. Did some quick PP in paintshop pro. I Like the effect more now

Original image was straight from camera, I rarely do any PP. Should get the habit of it really. Sharpened it slightly too much to get this effect and adjusted histogram.

What you think?

A better version.
The crop brings out the subject (so this is no longer Beauty and the Beast - just beauty) but still suffers from softness (perhaps too thin DoF) and quite flat lighting.

Actually it was low light and thats the only time I have time to take photos as busy in university at moment. Didnt have external flash nor tripod. think the slight softness might have been due to it bein handheld shot.

If only I had chance to take it at noon, lighting would have been fantastic.
