Where are the K-S1 early adopters?

I was just curious if anyone has the K-S1 yet and what are your thoughts on the camera? I thought we'd hear from a K-S1 owner by now...

You took the words right out of my mouth.
I don't know what their inventory was, but Amazon shows 1 or 2 K-S1 bodies only left in stock, and not many more for the kits.

Pentax K-S1 Serial Numbers - Pentax Serial Number Database - PentaxForums.com
perhaps when price move down we will see some reviews.
In Australia you can buy black only with black DAL 18-55.

On the auction site there's a couple of sellers with K-S1's about $100 under retail.

I've ordered, but was told I can't pick up until the end of the month.

There aren't many sales overhere if at all one sold. To expensive for what it brings in a market where you can buy K-5 II with WR kit lens for the same price, 699 euro.

Looking at it you can buy a camera with single lens starting at 179 euro overhere (Samsung NX2000 with 20-50mm lens and flash). And like 80 camera-lens combo's that are cheaper then the K-S1. Lot's of people don't know the difference between all those different types and brands. They do know the difference in price if it is more then 200 euro.

I wonder how many of the intended purchasers of this camera would also be members of this forum. Seems like it would be a small overlap (although maybe they'd find us after they purchase it).

Very true. I imagine that the K-S1 could very well be someone's first foray into the world of DSLRs.

My step-daughter-in-law loves the White K-x we gave her. I think she'd probably be part of the target market. Trouble is, she's still quite happy with her white K-x. For some people. taking good pictures is what it's about, not keeping up with the latest and greatest.

Looking at what Amazon shows in stock, for Black / White / Blue, and Body / 1 lens / 2 lens kits, the pattern is 1/6/1, 2/6/2, 2/6/2. I suspect they only got ten of each color in their first shipment, and have only sold two. Adorama and B&H have been closed for holidays about half the time since the K-S1 actually shipped, so I doubt they have sold much more than that.

Very common these days for electronic items like gaming consoles to not even be out of the Asian warehouses when they appear for purchase on websites ie they're really pre-sales.

The aim for the Q-S1 and K-S1 is to try to grow the market, converting cashed up and trendy gadget lovers from P&S or phone to their first DSLR, rather than try to convert Canikon users (who have investment in their existing lens collections anyway).

I'm getting mine because as Norm suggested, it's a perfect modern upgrade for a K-x. It's small.

The K-s1 seems like a good apsc combo to a hypothetical pentax FF camera with K-3 like features. I think it will look great with the limiteds.
