Not only this is bad Photoshop, but Ricoh can actually get sued for false advertising. Shame on Ricoh for not being able to actually take a picture of a woman holding a K-S1. For a camera company, this is truly sad...

Ricoh are doomed!

PS: That is pretty blatantly false and awful.
Someone needs to fall on their sword..

Well, they're conserving their resources for the cameras, right? Just call it streamlining
Good catch.

But a Photoshop fail coming from an imaging company is a marketing fail through and through.

Do these remind anybody else of the original multi-colored iMacs? It's like Ricoh is taking the 'niche player, like Apple or Subaru' literally.

I'm devastated.

Until this moment, I believed in the honesty of the advertising industry.

Bad Photoshopping, clipped highlights, finger on the lens... seriously, when did Pentax turn into the NY Mets?

Somebody has to make a lolPentax meme out of this...

Yeah. I'm hoping it just wasn't done right, because the alternative is worse - that they aren't taking their target audience seriously and are intentionally misrepresenting the K-S1.

Like these (wiki image link)?

That brings back memories - I remember having them in school and enjoying how colorful they were.

yep, really bad photo.
yep, really bad photoshop.
Just try holding your camera like that. It's a bit awkward.

Also, in the ad under Strawberry cake, what does this mean ? .lol
"The new concept design lends a unique sense of your style to the camera".
ha ha ha

Where is that K-S1 ad coming from? Some mailout from somewhere? Some Facebook page?

I don't see it on the 'Sweets Collection' pages of Ricoh Japan, Ricoh USA, or the dpreview set of images.

It was e-mailed out to registered Pentax owners in the USA. I don't know if it has been used anywhere else, but Ricoh e-mailed it to me as a product announcement.

Aha.

Probably some intern in the RIAC office under time pressure to produce a 'product in use' image, however no actual camera bodies at hand yet to produce any shots of their own, but with easy access to MS Paint....

Pentax needs to remove this particular ad NOW!

It is a horrible Photoshop effort.

For a photography company this is a mortal sin.
Yikes!! Completely agree.

And Europe. Pentax fanboys will no doubt find some feeble excuse for this. A camera company that can't take a photo of its product

No matter how low level this decision might have been, it's embarrassing!

It's like the comically misleading ads for Sea Monkeys I saw as a kid ... little people with fins, faces, arms and crowns on their heads. And they were actually shrimp.
