K-S1 Review - PCMag

The review is here - Pentax K-S1 Review & Rating | PCMag.com

Google says 3 hours ago so I presume it is new to the Forums. The reviewer rates the K-S1 as "good" (3 and a half stars) and seemed to be fair. Price was a "down" factor, but when you consider the K-S1 at around $700 US against the K-3 currently around $900 and the K-50 around $400 it is a valid point. It remains to be seen whether that 20MP sensor is enough to make it stand out.

Quite a reasonable review from a computing/lifestyle website, I would have thought! :-)

The problem isn't that the K-S1 is pricey (overher 649, 699 and 799 euro for body with no, 1 or two lenses)...the problem is that you can buy a Nikon D5100 with two lenses for 444 euro overhere.

And that has the same sensor as the K-3.

Can't beat the overproducing Canon and Nikon on price if it really comes to it. Sony are trying, but the Alpha SLTs have failed and the mirrorless stuff isn't paying the bills either.

The sales strategy for Pentax, Olympus and Fuji has to recognize those guys have the (possibly unsustainable) economies of scale and the marketing dollars.

And wrong sensor. Nikon uses the Toshiba 24MP sensor while Pentax uses Sony.

To many people don't know and don't care wich sensor is inside. They can all make descent images and that is what counts. The pricedifference is gignatic.
