I purchased a used K-S1 earlier this year to back up my K-70; I shoot many events where having two bodies is extremely useful. I'm really liking the K-S1: I got used to the odd ergonomics and minimalist controls very quickly, and I really appreciate the camera's small size and light weight.

And I've been getting some good shots with it! Here, a gull soars over the water at the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area in Kansas.

K-S1 with the M85/2. Camera ergonomics aren't great with a manual lens.

Yeah, M42 lenses are actually nicer to work with than K/M lenses.

I thought about it... but I thought the sun was the real draw here, and if I crop the picture too much, you won't get that "late afternoon" feeling.

I might still try to do something different with it, to showcase more of the colors rather than the light itself.

I haven't tried a B&W version either because the color is too much fun...

Ok so I did go back and did as suggested, and cropped the lower part... on the first one I added a Velvia simulation in RawTherapee because the cropped picture lacked a bit of mood. Then I did a black and white by just doing a T-Max 400 sim in RawTherapee because I thought it matched the mood of the picture better than other simulations.

I think I still like the original better but it's fun to play with alternatives

Good grief, I haven't posted any snaps in this thread for two-and-a-half years. Here's some bits and pieces.
