Originally posted by ChristianRock Yeah I was expecting a bit more of the Olympus. I know the 50 1.2 has lovely rendering and fantastic bokeh.
But I have to say that portrait of your dog could sell that lens. That came out just perfect and looks great...
So what other M42 lenses do you think are great? The Takumar 35 3.5 is probably one of them.
thank you...
I've sold off two different Takumars in the last week - the 35/2 and the 105/2.8.... neither really spoke to me....
the only Takumar I've held onto is the classic 55/1.8...
as far as the rest?
Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.4 - exceptional lens, near-macro close focusing, hugely capable... but spotty build quality....
Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f2 - the original, pre-Helios 44 bokeh machine, great color and bokeh...
Auto Chinon MCM 55mm f1.7 Macro - great build quality and clarity, supposedly the world's fastest macro lens...
Mamiya Macro Sekor 60mm f2.8 - if you want an M42 macro lens, this is the one to look for, optical design by Tomioka, and bomb-proof build quality...
I've already mentioned this Mamiya Sekor 58mm f1.7 - which is thoriated in M42 guise......
that's really about all the M42's that I could recommend.....
