I can't tell if you choose the more appealing subjects for this lens, nail shots with this lens more often than with others, or if this lens is just that good, but most of the time when you post a pic that has that certain wow factor to me, it is shot with the Mamiya Sekor 58...

thank you...

lol ... funny thing - I recently moved my M42 adapter to the K-S1, so took me a couple of days to hit my stride with the Mamiya 58....

I think I finally found the lens' groove this weekend....

I'm finding that the Mamiya 58 is as good as any Takumar - and is better than my Tak 55/1.8....

Good clarity, colors and sharpness on that Zuiko... but the bokeh can't be compared to a Takumar.

The Mamyia-Sekor 58, on the other hand... has it all! Combined with the fantastic K-S1 sensor it's really singing. What a beauty - those shots are almost making me get an M42 adapter finally.

thank you...

I was a little disappointed with the OM 50/1.4, but I also think the limitations of the Adaptist configuration did not help...

there are only a few lenses that I would ever suggest getting a M42 adapter for -- this MS 58 is one of them....

Yeah I was expecting a bit more of the Olympus. I know the 50 1.2 has lovely rendering and fantastic bokeh.
But I have to say that portrait of your dog could sell that lens. That came out just perfect and looks great...

So what other M42 lenses do you think are great? The Takumar 35 3.5 is probably one of them.

thank you...

I've sold off two different Takumars in the last week - the 35/2 and the 105/2.8.... neither really spoke to me....

the only Takumar I've held onto is the classic 55/1.8...

as far as the rest?

Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.4 - exceptional lens, near-macro close focusing, hugely capable... but spotty build quality....

Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f2 - the original, pre-Helios 44 bokeh machine, great color and bokeh...

Auto Chinon MCM 55mm f1.7 Macro - great build quality and clarity, supposedly the world's fastest macro lens...

Mamiya Macro Sekor 60mm f2.8 - if you want an M42 macro lens, this is the one to look for, optical design by Tomioka, and bomb-proof build quality...

I've already mentioned this Mamiya Sekor 58mm f1.7 - which is thoriated in M42 guise......

that's really about all the M42's that I could recommend.....
