What I don't see is any reference to wireless remote on the front or rear of the camera, or preferably both. That would be a must for me.

Not sure I would have any use for the Wi-Fi function.

I think you just answered your own question. If you wifi in using a large tablet then you get a much better preview than a pokey little screen. You then use the app to focus and trigger the shutter and then to immediately review the image.

Thanks - I thought it was just so that I could send a pic to a smartphone. Would the app work with a Thinkpad that has Wi-Fi capability?

The FluCard for Pentax app does. The hinted app that accompanies the intenal WiFi I don't think we know yet (I could be wrong on that) but it sure seems likely. I think they said they will release an API and SDK to go with the app.

Now you're taking me beyond the outer limits of my tech savvy (which isn't hard), but it would be neat to be able to use my Ultrabook when shooting macro. I'll follow the discussion as things evolve and maybe think about getting the K-S2 when the price goes down.

Why don't we leave this at, "Probably will work with a Thinkpad* over WiFi but we just don't know yet."

There's no app for a computer, Monochrome.

The Flucard works via web browser on Mac or Windows.

Yeah, I understood that - but whatever. Does my thnkpad need to be on a network with the camera or can it connect to the camera directly?

The default setup is the camera becomes a wireless access point and gives out an IP address to your laptop when you join its network.

But you could modify its settings so it's part of your home or work networks or whatever.

Much like a wireless printer, I assume? I thought I saw some comments that the HTML code is optimized for smartphones and doesn't scale up to larger displays, but I don't have a K-3 or the Flu-card to check it myself. Not that it matters, the resolution of the preview image is probably restricted for bandwidth reasons, so blowing it up doesn't gain one very much.
