Yes, the K-S2 guide book says that, and specifically calls it "Image Sync" also. But I find no such app by that name yet.

Yes, I know the w-fi button doubles as the selfie shutter. I just thought it amusing that it's referred to that way in the manual, not as the "wi-fi button." And of course until I find the "Image Sync" app, secondary shutter is ALL that button is good for.
Way to go, Ricoh...

I thought I heard that the app was going to arrive a little later than the cam - was it in the interview?

I had not seen that, but perhaps it has been mentioned. I'm not concerned, I'm merely reporting my discoveries thus far . . . one of which is how good the white K-S2 looks with silver Ltd.'s. I've had no chance to get photos with the camera, just of it. I'll post some pics from the K-S2 using the 18-50mm when I get an opportunity.

Thanks for sharing Mark!

I have silver limiteds too, 'glad you prefer to pair yours with the white KS-2. (I opt to buy the black/orange or forest green)

If it is not too much to ask, can you compare the -3 EV AF capability vs K-3? My K-30 is not that good in low light AF.

Congrats!

Since this thread has become all about fashion: What does the strap look like?

(I'm considering a K-S2 for my girlfriend. Yeah, my girlfriend. Really )

In my very dimmed living room, the K-S2 with the 18-50 is focusing readily on darkened areas. If you are deciding between K-S2 and K-3, however, it's K-3 all the way at the current price. Heck -- K-3 was good at the opening price. Now, its a fantastic buy. I can't fault K-3 in any way.

I'd highly recommend a real live girl for a girlfriend. Much more cuddly than a camera!

For my girlfriend, not as my girlfriend.

Well in either case, the strap that comes with the K-S2 is the typical black Pentax strap, nothing particularly notable about it. I'm actually going to use a Pentax Q strap because it is thinner and will fold in my various camera bags more easily. The K-S2 is compact enough that it will probably be a good match.

Did you try callnig Ricoh Imaging US and asking when it would be available? Maybe they'll give you a pre-release version to try out.

White K-S2 + silver Ltd is a handsome combination.

Mark, if you get a chance to do some shooting this weekend, would you mind making a quick comparison of Live View between the K-S2 and K-3? Nothing serious, just your impression of the responsiveness.

So in terms of low light AF lock, the KS-2 is superior over K-30. . The K-3 is a compelling product that Ricoh poured all their hearts in creating it. No doubt it is still better than KS-2 overall. But the size and new features that the KS-2 really attracts me. I just want to be sure that the newer camera is much more capable in low light better than my K-30. Thanks for this info

The only comparison shots I've had a moment for were at a scientific reception last night in a dimly lit museum lobby. Identical K-S2 camera settings, 20-40mm Ltd and the K-S2 Kit lens, both at 34mm zoom. Tungsten WB. These are straight OOC jpegs, "Bright" Custom Image setting with factory defaults, except that I had set sharpness to fine sharp. The full frame images were downsized for posting. A couple of 100% crops follow. No PP changes to the files other than raising exposure for the center crops. 2sec timer with camera sitting on a balustrade, steadied by hand (which I hope introduced no movement). 18-50 kit lens first, 20-40 second; the 18-50 is slightly darker in spite of the same settings. I would much rather have had a better-lit scene but weather and work have not been conducive to photography.

Thanks for those...

I sure hope that kit lens can do a little better than that.... things are not looking up. I love the design, but it has to do better than that. The KS-2 on the other hand looks fantastic. The 20-40 images are excellent.
