K-S2 and shutter noise

Does the K-S2 have that characteristically loud mirror noise when you actuate the shutter? Or, did Pentax decide to make this one a bit quiter?

No personal experience, but I read in a thread a few days ago that it wasn't much quieter than k30/50.

It's essentially the same as the K-50. Still louder than it ought to be IMO.

That's why I've held off on getting a 30/50. My kx is loud & draws attention when I'd prefer to be discreet. I've been thinking about an upgrade. The ks2 looks tempting, but that part still bothers me.

Nope. It's Pentax all the way. I waited too long to get a Pentax to jump ship now. My dilemma is k5iis for quieter shutter, k50 for the price & focus peaking, or ks2 for the new features. I keep reading the threads when people ask questions about these cameras hoping I'll see something that will settle it.

Not really fair to compare four FF Nikons to an APS-C Canon and a Fuji MILC. The FF bodies have more junk in the trunk, 'tho all the DSLR brands have quieter and louder models. Last weekend, I heard a shutter from about 30 feet away that would rival the K-30/50/500/S "sonic boom", and the owner clearly had a "Canon EOS" neckstrap.

I don't mind the "loud" shutters outdoors, but the K-5/II/s's "Mercedes door dipped in butter" is sooooooo nice indoors or in close quarters.

Seems awesome, but my hands are small & the price is still kind of high. Of course, price of ks2 is going to be up there for a while. There are pros & cons on all of the above.

I'm curious to know if the K-S2 has the same bizarre mirror flop behavior of the K-30 when shooting in live view mode? It would be great if the mirror just stayed up the whole time while in LV mode.

What's the problem? Mirror has to be up otherwise LiveView would be black.
Or do you mean the mirror closing then opening when taking the actual shot (same for K50, what about K-3?)
If so, why is this bizarre, are you a camera engineer?

Ahh mercedes door dipped in butter is very nice, I'm more of a Beemer door kinda guy.

I have a Nikon d5100, and the shutter sound is nowhere near a clunky as my k20d or K30
