We had our bi-monthly camera club meeting Thursday night at The Center in Elizabeth City. The lower gallery was hosting a jazz ensemble. I took my K-S2 with me to the meeting with the DA 18-135 WR lens. I found an out of the way vantage point and took a few shots. Here's a couple from the stairwell balcony.

I am the only member of the club that shoots Pentax. I'm trying to convert them but they resist. Heathens!

These are exposure bracketed images blended to one. K-S2 43mm 1.9 ltd. The reds and magentas are tuned down in Lightroom -10. Very strong contrast in middle of the day and deep shadows behind the tractors. New white snow as extra difficulty. Hand held shots aligned in PTAssembler.
Good images and Good reds :-) Well done.

Nice! Really sharp images. I recently sold that lens to another member here so I hope he's seeing the same beautiful results from his.

Thanks! It's a fun lens to use, and it's light and small, with good close-up capabilities. Once I got the back focus adjusted, it focused bang on. It was a great deal used, for sure, and seems to work well with the K-S2. I could use it on a K-1... if I ever buy one...

Agree. That's why I had held on to that one, among a few other FF lenses. If you had asked me three months ago if I was buying the K1 I'd have said yes in a heartbeat. That was my plan. Since then as I've improved my skills a tiny bit and picked up the K-S2 and a K5 as replacements for my K50 I've changed my mind. I'm more than happy with the images I'm getting and they'll only get better as I get more experience with them.

The K1 won't make me a better photographer. I'll stick with what I have and continue investing in better glass instead. Actually I was a FF shooter decades before buying my first DSLR. Got the fever with a Brownie back in the 60's with those flash bulbs I always thought were cool. My mom then bought me a Polaroid Swinger sometime that decade, remember those? My first foray into Pentax came in 1970 (?) with a K1000 just like many of us. So I've gone the full-frame route before.

I had an Argus C-3 "brick" as a kid (still have it, lol). Got into Pentax with the ME and then the beloved MX. That was it 'til Olympus digital and the original Minolta A-1 prosumer- the first sensor shift camera. Then it was all Pentax again with a K10D.

These are cross posted to the 18-135 lens club but I thought I'd put them here too. KS-2 is nice for skiing being relatively compact and light. My friends and I got some nice late season powder on Sunday so we had to go enjoy it under our own power as there are no lifts on this mountain and the resorts nearby are closed for the season. Conditions were ideal. Great morning!

May in South Carolina

Yesterday I was in Congaree National Park enjoying the beautiful weather here in South Carolina. It was my first outing with the K-S2 and 18-135 lens.

Quick side note: If anyone has an unneeded Camera Utility 5 disc they wouldn't mind parting with let me know. I've searched high and low for mine, found the v4 that came with my K5, but nada for v5 that came with the KS2. PM me and Thanks in advance.
