^ Interesting. I haven't been to Mexico for a while now. The last time I set foot in Mexico was in December of 2007. I went to Puerto Nuevo, Baja California. Shortly after that, all those drug cartel incidents started happening & I basically haven't been there since. I've been wanting to go, though. It's only about 2 hours south of me. Cheap fun!

I would love to do a road trip from Tijuana to Cancun, but with my luck, I'll probably get robbed along the way. Haha!
I've been through Sinaloa on the train and stayed and played in Los Mochis - where El Chapo was recaptured - and nearby beach towns in 2004. Later that year I drove my Jeep into the Copper Canyon, but as much as I wanted to, did not drive on through Sinaloa. Even stupid me can be smart occasionally. And 2004 was pretty safe compared to now.

Cd. Acuna, Estado Coahilla, seems relatively isolated, both geologically and in the drug wars, from most of Mexico.

A friend of mine goes in and out of Tijuana for dental work, doesn't think it unsafe for that purpose.

I used the selfie feature to get this one while canoeing with my son in Florida a couple of days ago.

I did my first portrait shooting the other day. Our church had a Luke 14 Project Dinner we put on for a few of the homeless people in our area. Twenty four people were given the opportunity for showers, haircuts, beauty makeup for the ladies, clothes and then treated to a first class dinner setup like a five star restaurant (well, as close as we could). Part of the event was having their photos taken and given a printed copy to take with them. I was the one who took their photos for them and the event. To work with I had one speedlight, my K-S2, a FA 50 & DA 70 lens, and a borrowed backdrop to work with. Flash was on camera, but I did setup a 8' x 4' white board to use as a reflector. I used the "Foamin White Thing" to flag most of the shots. Only a few wanted a portrait, but it was fun. I am very proud of our little church.
Here are a few of the shots:

One of our church members, Calvin on the left, is posing with one of lady guest.

Here is the dinning room setup:

Some shots from my first day with the KS-2. Used a mix of lenses, but the berry shot was taken with a Pentax-M 55/1.8. Learning to love that lens.

"Twenty-three Straws" was captured at ISO 6400 with an SMC Pentax M 1:4/100mm on a KS-2.
