I was excited to receive my new K S-2, but it took some research to push limits in two areas of interest, low-light and wet-nature. But success is attached! The KS2, like other recent Pentaxes, has limited functionality in very low light. As per earlier posts (re earlier models), the exposure systems do not work and the viewfinder display "blinks." Sometimes the shutter does not work (still researching that). None of this is documented in the KS2 manual (I did search carefully). The blinking was a disappointment, but I followed a forum suggestion of using Bulb, which gives a good unblinking view. The rain came and I went out to shot. I put the camera on a surface (a short dam), manually focussed using the Pentaprism viewfinder (brighter than CanNik's mirrors and a big draw for me), counted seconds in my head for shutter duration, and adjusting based on the images produced. The 20-sec exposure turned out well and begins to capture the mystery of a wet night. I'm looking forward to further learning and exploration, in dark and light, and sun and rain!
