UPS and my K-s1

How very curious - apparently my K-s1 is visiting Yosemite Park on its way to my home!

Mather, CA, United States 07/14/2015 4:52 P.M. Arrival Scan
Des Moines, IA, United States 07/14/2015 3:07 P.M. Departure Scan
07/14/2015 9:59 A.M. Arrival Scan
Newark, NJ, United States 07/14/2015 8:19 A.M. Departure Scan
07/14/2015 2:29 A.M. Arrival Scan
Secaucus, NJ, United States 07/14/2015 1:25 A.M. Departure Scan

Mather CA is just downstream from Hetch Hetchy dam in the central Sierra. I'd be very surprised if UPS has a warehouse or even a landing strip in the middle of those mountains. I hope they leave the card inside the camera when it reaches me, clearly it's seeing more sights this summer than I am!

I've had packages take the scenic route a few times, but more often with Fed-Ex than with UPS.

Yeah, the most fun is when they pass within a few blocks of your house to reach the next warehouse 50 miles past you. I hate that!

That happens to me all the time, though it's a couple of miles rather than a couple of blocks. I've watched while a box passes my freeway exit one day, to go another 50 miles on one day and then to come back that 50 miles the next to be delivered.

A friend of mine in Hawaii sent me a small 1st Class parcel (padded envelope) from Honolulu it went through Fargo, ND to Los Angeles. Strange as there are direct flights from HNL to LAX just about daily. The USPS subcontracts with FedEx and some of the other carriers so it probably was handled by FedEx. My friend suspects FedEx purposely takes longer to deliver subcontracted USPS parcels to make themselves look better.

Drat I got my numbers confused it was a DFA50 that went to the Sierra so no memory card to check. Nice lens!
The K-s1 is in Illinois, maybe it will hit the Black Hills / Rushmore / Devils Tower and Yellowstone on the way?

Don't feel too bad. Goodwill just charged me a small fortune to ship a SP and two Tak lenses I won. More than enough to send it Priority, and when I checked out it said that's what it said they were doing Priority Mail, but when they actually sent it they sent it Parcel Select which is only slightly faster than the proverbial slow boat from China and about as safe. I will be very lucky if it all turns up here next week intact, sigh. The one kit I really DON'T want messed up and they ship it as cheaply as possible. I'm a little pissed. I mean why charge me for PM if they're only going to send it parcel? It would have to be the package with the one Tak I've been trying to grab for years. ARRRGH! That about covers it...

Deep breaths, "serenity now!" Yeah that is freaky, I hope the package arrives safely.

Shopgoodwill is a slightly spooky place, with many "Hoya 58mm" lenses and other stuff that's totally lost on the listers. I have a JCPenney 2x TC coming soon to match up with my JCP 80-200/3.5 - it just sounded right! Cost more to ship than to buy, and who knows what canoe that one's on.
