K-S2 screen protection

I never thought about this with my K-5 II, but is it a good ideal for a screen protector for the LCD screens on these cameras? I know the screen on my cell phone is what they call Gorilla Glass which is really tough and doesn't need a screen protector. Anyone know what kind of material covers the camera's screens?

I think I can answer my own question. No, it's not needed. I did a little research and the general answer is that it is a waste of money. None of my Canon's had protectors and were used extensively. Next my K-5 II has over 10,000 photos taken and it too still looks like new. No reason to believe the K-S2 won't be as durable.

Time to go take some pictures.

I had a screen protector on my K-x and K10D, but with the K-S2 I just flip around the screen so it stays protected. I do most of my shooting with the screen facing inwards, I only flip it out to review images make some additional settings. I have User 1 and 2 configured to my needs so I really doesn't need the screen so much.

I put a screen protector on my MX-1's screen... right after I scratched it. :-P But I keep it in my purse and take it in and out frequently. My K-S2 rides in my camera bag and is better protected. I've never put a screen protector on any other camera...

But since we ARE talking about the K-S2... why not just flip the screen around? Boom. Safety!

I have screen protectors on both my K10D's. I notice when carrying them with the strap around my neck, that the screen rubs against me. In time I would be concerned it could show wear. Screen protectors are inexpensive, so I use them. If I get the KS2, I don't think I'd have one, as the screen when "tucked away", is protected against the camera.

Alternatively having a screen protector on a K-S2 may also slow down hinge wear as you won't have to flip the screen round just for short term carrying etc but only when you put it away.

When I carry my camera it's with a wrist strap & right hand. If not it's in the bag.

I've just used a spare phone screen protector cut down to size. This saves having to rotate the screen when the camera is hanging from my neck when the screen can bang/rub against my chest.

It also means I don't worry about rotating the screen when temporarily putting the camera back in its bag.
