Yes, it supports IR remote, but not cable remote.

I have a k-s2 and it works well with the pentax waterproof remote control and the older remote control F. You can also trigger it via wifi using your smartphone BUT ONLY in single frame shooting and not in self-timer mode.

OK, slow on the uptake here. There are remote options other than the irrascible Image Sync? IR, meaning infrared, I presume? Can anyone do some links for me? I've no clue where to start.

The red panel on the grip is the IR receiver.

You can buy a Pentax remote or one for low/medium level Canons, or a phone with IR blaster and suitable app.

Or cable.

In Drive Mode, you choose 'Remote' instead of single shot, burst, delay, etc.

Check out your manual.

Thanks, Clackers. During the purchase of the camera, I never noticed anything about IR remote, so that's why I was surprised. Yes, upon examination in the camera manual.........the big downloadable one, not the start up guide........there it is.

I looked at a number of remotes on eBay and B&H and decided to start with the cheapest for $3, claims all cameras and has lotsa buttons. Ha ha. Doesn't work? I'll spend more then.

I saw those electrical cable remotes for the K3? and others, but my KS-2 lacks such a port. Unless, don't tell me, it's built into the HDMI port!

You're right, being a more consumer oriented camera than say, the K-3, it doesn't have one.

I use cheapo remotes similar to this one Wireless IR Infrared Camera Shutter Remote Control for Sony Canon Nikon US | eBay

I've purchased 7 or 8 over the years. I try to keep a couple on me when out shooting. I've lost a few only to find them again. I've given a few away, the multi-brand is great for this, but with the downside of having to hit the right button (on mine it's the top left one that trips the Pentax shutter). Overall, they've been great, and if the one you ordered works, I'd suggest getting another for when you lose it.

I found a Pentax D remote, also, for $6 total.

So now I've got $10 invested in this project! Oh, the horror.........
