So i tried hooking up an outside RodeLav+ mic on my KS-2 but it just does not record when its fully set in. i tried moving it around and i get some sound but other than that nope. The mics are fine i tested them separately.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Its the first i tried the mics too so I am sure i didnt jam anything in there.

I don't have a K-S2 to check, but the the KP has an "External Device Setting" in the wrench menu which must be set to mic or auto, it could be set to wired remote. One of those setting that questions "why have it?".

I don't have a K-S2, but the question must be asked...where are your levels set? Sadly, the K-S2 does not have a headphone port for monitor.

Not on the K-S2. It has separate, single-duty ports for those two tasks.
