af/mf switch on K-s1 not working

The af/mf switch on my K-s1 will not change from af to mf. The lever moves but mf will not engage. I know I can use it in af mode, but sometimes I like to focus manually. Any thoughts please.

The lever may have slipped off the arm on the switch or either broke. You may want to look through the K-S1/S2 sticky section where there should be instructions on replacing the aperture solenoid. This will show how to open the case and re-align the MF/AF switch on reassembly.

I'll move this thread to the K-S1 section.

Was this camera opened up before?

This also happens in my K200D but as far as I know it was never opened. Sometimes the mechanical switch which is plastic just fails... or it could be an electronic issue as well.

Did you buy your K-S1 second hand or was it away for repair?
Or did you yourself open it for repair?
Since when does this fault happen?

The AF-MF switch is pretty tough and hardly goes out of alignement by itself but of course it could happen.

Follow these instructions:
Manual: Solenoid replacement: Pentax K-S1 - PentaxForums.com
and as you have your K-S1 open anyway: Replace the solenoid as well, it is worth it.
