Perhaps the 67 LS is every bit as good or better, but I think the D FA 100 WR macro is the best all-around macro from any DSLR brand/mount, so it gets the nod from me ("all-around" means it gets a 9/10 rating in every conceivable category - a few other macros may rate 10/10 in some area, but they have weak spots elsewhere).

Besides, "the best macro lens" is small enough "to always have with you!"

I've only come to know the 165LS recently and it's spectacular.

As much as I want the 100mm macro I'll give this to the 165mm, affordable medium format lenses with leafshutters are few and far between.
