If the 14.85 percent is added to the present percentage of posts, that would give the approximate percentage of 40,000 that will be completed by the end of the month.

Note: 85.93 percent plus the 14.85 percent is 100.88 percent. So that would complete the 40,000 goal. This is approximation, but there obviously has been a steady rate, and with users knowing there is a goal, maybe there will be a surge to complete it.

But with threads like this, it's guaranteed that because the 30th, the last day of a short month ends on Saturday, we'll blast over the quota. What's the prize for guessing the right number? If everyone does what they did today, it will be great. We don't seem to get many posts between midnight EDT and 8am EDT {i.e. "east coast US time}, but even so we got enough in the first half-day to meet requirement for the entire day! Three more half-days like that, and we'll meet the target!!

Adam has already said the counting will end 6am UTC-11 July 1st {Sunday}, which I believe is around noon July 1st EDT. If I understand your counting correctly, you're leaving out the half-day on Sunday PLUS today's rate has been much higher than usual.

Many people apparently didn't understand Adam's challenge, and so posts on June 1 were about what you would expect for any summer day. Things picked up after that, but most of this month we've been 23-25 hours behind where we needed to be; only in the past few days have we finally dug out of that hole we created on the first day.
