I thought I would share my method of changing images to one color images.
How to Convert Image to One Color
Using Photoshop [Elements]
Open a working copy of image you would like to convert
Remove background (make transparent)
Convert image to grayscale – Image > Mode > Grayscale
Increase Contrast – Enhance > Adjust Lighting > Brightness/Contrast… Contrast +50
Apply Photocopy filter – Filter > Sketch > Photocopy… Detail 4
Apply Find Edges filter – Filter > Stylize > Find Edges
Convert image to RGB Color – Image > Mode > RGB Color
Convert image to Indexed Color – Image > Mode > Indexed Color…
--- Palette: Uniform Colors: 3
Convert image to RGB Color – Image > Mode > RGB Color
Copy image – Select > All | Edit > Copy
Add new layer – Layer > New > Layer…
Delete Layer 1 (Working layer that was copied to clipboard/memory)
Fill Layer 2 black (000000)
Add mask to Layer 2 (Click on Add layer mask button in the Layer Panel)
While holding down the alt key click on the mask thumbnail
--- Next to Layer 2 thumbnail and link in the Layer Panel
--- Layer 2 should have turned from black to white
Paste image into Layer 2 – Edit > Paste
Select whole image – Select > All
Invert image – Filter (Image in PS) > Adjustments > Invert
Double click on layer thumbnail (black) in Layer Panel
If pink background, click on eye next to layer thumbnail
Add new layer – Layer > New > Layer…
Covert Layer 3 to a background layer
--- Layer > New > Layer from Background…
Change (fill) background layer to desired color
Option: Turn off background layer for transparent background
Option: Invert image if white is desired
