Here is a quick design I made using an image from Ricoh Imaging's site. The idea is that with the transition to mirrorless and EVFs that an optical viewfinder is actually better and "seeing is believing." I tried using a font similar to the logo, but it is still off. The image may be too low res for printing, about 500x500 pixels, perhaps a higher res copy could be obtained by request from Ricoh Imaging. Also the image possibly contains too many colors and would raise the price for printing too much. If that is the case, perhaps my idea will inspire others to have ideas of their own.

My idea. Probably not feasible but I had fun doing it
Yours is the only one I've liked so far. It's a great concept.

I have used a font I grabbed from the website DaFont.com. It is very similar BUT not the same. I trust it is fine, but I can substitute for it.

Here are my first two entries as I yet again begin another Quixotic quest to win this blankety-blank contest.

Very cool design! Why not stick to the same font for Pentax, but make in red?

Cool idea, but this design has too many colors to be printable- it would need to be traced or posterized.

I've added it to Pentax Forums T-Shirts - US | Teespring
Attached 4 coulors White, grey, black and the red of the PF logo

These look like two different reds to my eyes.
Is there a standard "Pentax Forums" red?
If not, I like the brighter {second} of the two reds you used.

I like my T-shirts un-serious. But perhaps this would be better if it named an actual camera? Something like: Pentax K-1 Weather Resistant?

I just matched the reds to the two different Pentax Forums logos.

My entry Astrotracer

I am not a computer wizard so I hope this looks OK. It could be printed on blue, black or gray.

Not sure how to make the graphic show instead of just the link.

How to Convert Image to One Color

I thought I would share my method of changing images to one color images.

How to Convert Image to One Color
Using Photoshop [Elements]

Open a working copy of image you would like to convert
Remove background (make transparent)
Convert image to grayscale – Image > Mode > Grayscale
Increase Contrast – Enhance > Adjust Lighting > Brightness/Contrast… Contrast +50
Apply Photocopy filter – Filter > Sketch > Photocopy… Detail 4
Apply Find Edges filter – Filter > Stylize > Find Edges
Convert image to RGB Color – Image > Mode > RGB Color
Convert image to Indexed Color – Image > Mode > Indexed Color…
--- Palette: Uniform Colors: 3
Convert image to RGB Color – Image > Mode > RGB Color
Copy image – Select > All | Edit > Copy
Add new layer – Layer > New > Layer…
Delete Layer 1 (Working layer that was copied to clipboard/memory)
Fill Layer 2 black (000000)
Add mask to Layer 2 (Click on Add layer mask button in the Layer Panel)
While holding down the alt key click on the mask thumbnail
--- Next to Layer 2 thumbnail and link in the Layer Panel
--- Layer 2 should have turned from black to white
Paste image into Layer 2 – Edit > Paste
Select whole image – Select > All
Invert image – Filter (Image in PS) > Adjustments > Invert
Double click on layer thumbnail (black) in Layer Panel
If pink background, click on eye next to layer thumbnail
Add new layer – Layer > New > Layer…
Covert Layer 3 to a background layer
--- Layer > New > Layer from Background…
Change (fill) background layer to desired color
Option: Turn off background layer for transparent background
Option: Invert image if white is desired

OK .... I didn't know there are two different logos. Personally, I prefer the brighter red, but that is just me. I don't know how it would affect my voting and/or purchasing decision.

Our annual T-shirt contest is back for a 2018 edition! Can you believe it's already been a year? This year, we're going to keep things simple:

Theme: cameras, lenses, and/or photography, incorporating the PF logo (download here) - let your imagination rule. Bonus points for showing off unique Pentax features.

Deadline: August 12th 2018, by the end of the day your time

To enter: post each submission in a reply to this thread, as an attachment (be prepared to e-mail a high-res version if you're a winner)

You can choose to enter as many designs as you'd like.

Prizes: Each winner will each receive two free shirts shipped to their door, plus a Site Supporter forum account upgrade

Requirements and restrictions:
  • Important! Your design can't have more than 10 colors (preferably 4 colors or fewer), so avoid the use of photos
  • Only the central area on the front of the shirt will be printable. We can't print on the sides, above the neckline, or on the sleeves
  • Unedited photos can NOT be printed - you must either vectorize the image or reduce the number colors
  • Your design must include the Pentax Forums logo. You may alter the colors or make minor changes / additions
  • You may use specific Pentax product names and product logos (i.e. K-1, K-3, etc), and traces of official product photos, or any product photo found on PF's homepage
  • You may not use any other photo or work subject to copyright, without permission
  • You may not use the official Pentax logo font (type out Pentax instead)
Once we're closed to submissions, we'll have members vote to select the winning designs. We plan to pick three winners, but may opt for more if there are many exceptional designs.

I'm excited to see what you guys will come up with, and I'm sure many other forum members are, too. Good luck and let your imagination go wild!

This year, we will continue T-shirt production through Teespring. With two different fulfillment locations, simple storefronts, and prints every 5 days, shipping is cheaper and faster than it's ever been before.

To get you started, here are four top designs from the past 2 contests:

Hi guys,

I made four versions of the logo in three different background colors (white, red and black):
- The first with the logo in its original colors;
- The second with the logo with the inverted colors;
- The third with only one color;
- The fourth one with two colors.

I hope you like my ideas.
