Hi everyone! I'd like to enter the raffle contest for day 3. My story -- I've been dreaming of starting a sewing vlog for the past 2+ years, but never really got round to having the time and will to execute till during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, I found another mission for the vlog: to help former colleagues who, like myself, had lost their jobs or are facing job insecurity in the travel industry due to the crisis. I have been posting analytics tutorials to help mid-career colleagues in online travel and e-commerce upskill given that none of us have the time or resources (in mid-life) to go back to doing a degree yet these skills (SQL, scripting, data analytics) emerged more than a decade after we entered the workforce.
Since I already have a K-50, I am using that for all my filming and just completed a 24-minute sewing video which really challenged me to stretch myself, learning manual focus and also forcing me not to be lazy about changing up the tripod angles and being diligent about lighting.
The video is here. I am proud to have produced this level of output from a camera that is theoretically not known to be optimized for video and not even having the luxury of an articulated screen to check my framing of the shots:
I believe that a K-70 would be a nice-to-have addition for vlogging because it has the articulated LCD that enables me to check the framing of my shots (important for sewing videos since I'm on the move and could shift out of the frame easily) and also an external microphone jack to mount a shotgun mic for better audio in my talking head shots. However, if I don't win the raffle, I will still continue producing content and challenging myself with my K-50!
